Oi Mum!

Being a Mum is the best worst thing ever in the entire UNIVERSE.

Just when you think you found yourself, you worked out what the hell you were doing in your teenage years and found yourself some stable land to get on with being a ‘real woman’? (<–I don’t really know what that is still!) you find your self knocked up! For some it’s covered in love and diamonds and pretty mortgages ( I may have that a little mixed up) and for others it’s barefoot, broke, single and petrified how you’re going to make rent this month (Lucky me I ended up in this department).

So here we are all ready to face our careers, our lovers, our lives and BAM! LABOUR!!  F#*%ING LABOUR! Drugs or no drugs it’s painful, scary and disgusting…and thats a smooth a labour.

Fast forward through the loved up sleepless first 6 months, then fast forward again through he next 6 months of teething, transitioning from soggy nipples to slimy foods and you have yourself a lovely little ‘bundle of joy’ all ready for mum’s ATTENTION!

Think it’s time to get back to that career of yours, no wait, be a mum, no wait time to give the husband sex (if he remembers what that is) oh and there is the body weight, baby fat, saggy boob issues you have to deal with too!

Should we rewind back to the beginning and not go there with having kids? NO WAY! You’d do it again would you? Me too!

Slow down mummy, there is no need to rush,

slow down mummy, what is all the fuss?

Slow down mummy, make yourself a cup tea.

Slow down mummy, come and spend some TIME with me.

Slow down mummy, let’s put our boots on and go out for a walk,

let’s kick at piles of leaves, and smile and laugh and talk.

Slow down mummy, you look ever so tired,

come sit and snuggle under the duvet and rest with me a while.

Slow down mummy, those dirty dishes can wait,

slow down mummy, let’s have some fun, let’s bake a cake!

Slow down mummy I know you work a lot,

but sometimes mummy, its nice when you just stop.

Sit with us a minute,

& listen to our day,

spend a cherished moment,

because our childhood is not here to stay!
